Steps to make Fried modak(taliv):
  1. Take a rava in mixing bowl. Add pinch of salt. Heat the oil in small pan and add in mixing bowl. Mix well.
  2. Add sufficient amount of milk to make thick dough. Keep it aside for 2 to 3 hours.
  3. For filling:
  4. Heat the grated coconut in a pan on medium low flame. Add grated jaggery and mix well.
  5. Stir occasionally till the mixture is cooked. Now add roasted poppy seeds, finely chopped cashews and almonds. Mix well.
  6. Switch off the gas. Let the mixture cool down.
  7. Take a dough. Knead it well. Divide the dough into equal size portion. In small plate make the mixture of cornflour and ghee. Keep it aside. Take a small portion and make a chapati. Keep it aside.
  8. Take another small portion of dough and make chapati. Apply ghee and cornflour mixture on it. Put that another chapati on it.
  9. Roll it again. Now wrap this chapati and cut it into equal size pieces.
  10. Take a small piece and roll it into small size puri. Add the filling in the cener. Pinch the edges one by one. Bring all folds together in the center.
  11. Heat the ghee in a pan. Ghee should be medium hot. Deep fry the modak till golden brown. Remove it on tissue paper.
  12. Let it cool down and store it in air tight container.
