The ingredients needed to make Vada curry:
- Get 2 medium onions
- You need 1 Medium tomatoes
- Get To taste Salt,
- Get 1 tsp Red chilli powder
- Prepare 1 tbsp Cumin Powder
- Provide 1 green chilli
- You need 1 tsp sambar masala
- Get 1 onion chopped
- You need 1 tomato chopped
- Use 15-16 curry leaves
- Take 1 red chilli
- Prepare 1 tbsp oil
- Provide 1 tsp mustard seeds
- Take 1 tsp cumin seeds
- Provide 1 tsp asafoetida
Instructions to make Vada curry:
- Soak chana daal for 2-3 hours.
- Grind it to paste adding curry leaves, ginger and green chilli. Add salt, chilli powder, turmeric, and mix it nicely.
- Chop onion and tomato.
- Make small vada out of paste. Normally this vada has to be fried but as i prefer less oily food, i have shallow fried it. Add 1 tbsp oil and shallow fry ticklish till nicely cooked and crisp on both sides.
- In same oil add mustard and cumin seeds. Once splutters add asafoetida. Add onion and saute it until cooked. Now add chopped tomato and all spices. Cook it until oil starts leaving edges.
- Add water and boil it. Once it starts boiling add broken tikkis to it. Cook it until thick in consistency.
- Vada curry is ready. Serve it with idli, dosa or puri. Happy eating..
