The ingredients needed to make Chicken Chettinad:
  1. Take 2 tbsp yogurt
  2. You need 1/2 tbsp chilli powder
  3. Use 1/2 tsp turmeric
  4. Provide 500 gms chicken
  5. Provide 1 tsp salt
  6. You need 1 tsp Dry Chettinad Masala
  7. Prepare 3 whole dry chillies
  8. Use 1 tbsp coriander seeds
  9. Prepare 3 green cardamoms
  10. Provide 1/2 tbsp cumin seed
  11. You need 1 tbsp Fennel seeds
  12. Use 3 cloves
  13. Use 6 pepper corn
  14. You need 2 tbsp poppy seeds
  15. Take 1/2 cinnamon stick
  16. You need 1-2 tsp Wet masala paste
  17. Get 2 onion
  18. You need 1/2 inch ginger piece
  19. You need 5-6 cloves garlic
  20. You need 2 small Tomatoes
  21. Take 1/2 cup freshly grated coconut
  22. Take 2 tbsp water as required
Instructions to make Chicken Chettinad:
  1. Clean chicken thoroughly and add 1/2 tsp salt, red chilli powder, turmeric and yogurt keep it covered in the refrigerator for 30 minutes
  2. Dry roast all the ingredients for dry chettinad masala till they start to emit the aroma.
  3. Allow it to cool and grind to make powder masala. Keep it aside
  4. Dry roast the coconut and grind together all ingredients of wet masala paste and set aside
  5. Heat oil in a thick bottomed pan and add wet masala paste in it. - 6. Cook it on medium heat till masala starts sticking to the bottom of
  6. When masala is cooked, add marinated chicken pieces to it mix well.
  7. Cover and let it cook 5 minutes
  8. Add dry chettinad masala powder and stir the content of pan so that chicken is coated well with the masala. Finally, add water and 1/2 tsp salt.
  9. Cover and cook chicken for 15-20 minutes. Keep stirring in between to prevent chicken from sticking to the bottom
