The ingredients needed to cook Parippu Vada:
- Take 2 cups Chana Dal
- Prepare 1 big Onion finely chopped
- Provide 2-3 Green Chilli finely chopped
- Get 1-2 tsp Ginger finely chopped
- Use 1/4 tsp Fennel Seeds
- Provide 1-2 sprig Curry Leaves finely chopped
- Take 1/8 tsp Asafoetida/hing
- Use to taste Salt
Steps to make Parippu Vada:
- Clean and Soak chana dal for 2-3 hours. Drain the water completely
- Pat dry the drained dal with a clean kitchen towel. Grind the dal for a few seconds. Dal should be crushed and not be made into a smooth paste.
- Add all the other ingredients to the dal and combine it gently.
- Heat oil in a deep pan for frying. Divide dal mix into equal portions. Wet your hands and flatten each ball within palms
- Drop vadas in hot oil and deep fry over low-medium heat, till it becomes crispy and a dark shade of brown. Drain the fried vadas on tissue paper
- Serve the Vadas hot with steaming cup of Masala chai
