The ingredients needed to make Gajar ka halwa:
- Take 2 kg (grated) Carrots
- Take 2 kg Milk (boiled)
- Take 1 & ½ cup or to taste Sugar
- Get ½ cup Khoya
- Prepare 2cup or as required Ghee (desi) (tip…kiun k bhoontay jain gay or ghee daltay jain gay)
- Take 1 tsp Nutmeg powder
- Use 2 tsp Cardamom powder
- Provide Dry fruits/nuts as required
Steps to make Gajar ka halwa:
- 1:Rinse, peel and grate carrots. - In a pot,add carrots and heat up on high flame for 2-3 minutes. - Add milk (boiled) and bring the whole mixture to a boil then mix it.
- 2:On a medium low flame, uncovered, grated carrots will cook in the milk and the milk starts to reduce and evaporate. - Now cook on high flame and keep on stirring in between.
- 3:When all milk evaporates, add sugar and give it a good mix. - Keep stirring and continue to cook on a high flame.
- 4:Add khoya,ghee and mix well. - Towards the end,add cardamom powder,nutmeg powder and dry fruits/nuts and give it a good mix. - Cover and put it on simmer for 2-3 minutes.
- 5:Gajar halwa is ready.
