The ingredients needed to prepare Gajar ka halwa:
- You need 1/2 kg carrots
- You need 1/2 kg milk
- You need 1/2 cup Milk powder
- Provide 4-5 tbsp ghee
- Prepare 1/2 cup sugar
- You need 2-3 tbsp chopped dry fruits (I take almonds and raisin)
Instructions to make Gajar ka halwa:
- First rinse, peel and then grate the carrots.
- In a kadai or deep thick bottomed pan add ghee after heating ghee put grated carrots on ghee and roasted for 2-3 min in medium to low flame.
- Now add milk on roasted carrots.
- On a low to medium flame, bring the whole mixture to a boil and then simmer.
- While the mixture is simmering on a low flame, keep on stirring in between.
- The grated carrots will cook in the milk and the milk will start to reduce and evaporate. We have to add milk powder on mixture. Mix well milk powder in carrots without any lumbs.
- When the milk has 75% add sugar and dry fruits to the mixture.
- Stir well and continue to simmer and cook on a low flame.
- Do keep on stirring the halwa in between.
- Simmer the halwa till all the milk is evaporated. Switch off the burner.
- Garnish with some chopped almonds and serve hot gajar ka halwa.
