  1. To begin wash rice and dals properly and soak them in water for half an hour.
  2. In a pressure pan heat ghee and add mustard and jeera.
  3. To this add ginger- garlic paste, tomatoes and palak. Roast well for 2-3 mins.
  4. Now add the soaked daks and rice. Saute it well for 5 mins.
  5. Add haldi, red chilli powder and garam masala powder. Saute for 2-3 mins.
  6. Now add boiling water to this mixture and mix well. If you like more soft khichadi you can increase the amount of water.
  7. Add salt as per your taste.
  8. Cook for 5-6 whistles.
  9. Serve hot with raita, achar and papad.
